What is your current goal and how are you doing?

I am trying to read the Bible 1 hour per day (30 minutes OT & 30 minutes NT). If I keep this pace, I could read the NT in one month and the OT in three months. The problem is that I am not that consistent, perhaps 50% or so. So with your help & encouragements, I would like to raise up my "free throws" to 90%. Help me!

As of today, I am at Judges chapter 1 and Luke 15. If my calculation is correct, I need to read about 2 1/2 months (end of May) before I finish OT and 22 more days (Apr. 6) to finish the NT. I am writing this down to see how I do and to have some accountability.

My current bible reading schedule is to follow 90 day bible reading schedule published by Zondervan.
At minimum, I keep up with that day's schedule. Often times, I ended up reading more. As of today (3/17), I am in Ezekiel. I started my second time reading through the bible on 2/8/07. My rational to read a little more than the schedule is in case in future I may get behind. If that happens, it will not be overwhelmed to catch up to the schedule.

Daniel- Thanks for the encouragement! Do you know of any links to online Bible-reading schedules or even online Bibles? I am online ALL day long and this might help those of us stuck in cyberspace. I will let you know if and when I have a "plan".

Erin-for the online Bible, you can use www.biblegateway.com/passage
and for the Bible schedule you can be as simple as reading 15 to 30 minutes per day, 3 chapters in the Old and 3 in the New, etc. Whatever schedule that suits you. But once you determine a schedule, I would recommend that you try to keep that pace daily. Always remember where you left off. So that you can pick it up again even after many months. It feels great to finish. I think that it is a God given feeling :) Happy trails to you, partner.

I just finished reading the NT on April 12, a week later than I wanted. I have missed a week of reading. I guess I was busy and at the same time not as fresh or inspired in my reading. I picked up my Bible reading again. I feel charged again. I am at Matthew 10 & 2 Chron. 17. I should be done with NT by May 11th and OT by the end of May (according to 3/16 forecast).

In my reading, I realize that I am reading faster than before. I used to read about 8 chapters in 30 minutes. But now I think that I am reading about 10.

Also in my reading, I am fighting to keep focused. Many miscellaneous thoughts come to me. I need to keep chasing them away. As I am more focused, the reading enjoyment increases also.

Thank you Lord for allowing us to read and enjoy Your word.

My Bible reading is like Daniel, that is, I'm trying to read for one hour a day. That puts me on a Bible-in-90-days schedule, which I want to keep. I'm reading straight through, though, instead of reading OT & NT together. I'm also using the same Zondervan schedule card that Nick is using, just to keep me on track. I find it helps, especially when I get interrupted. Reading an hour a day, I really should get through in about 85 days, but it doesn't always work out that way.

I just finished reading the NT on May 26, two weeks later than I wanted (May 12) and I am on Ecclesiastes 6 (my Goal: finish OT by the end of May according to 3/16 forecast). I am going to double up my time to finish up OT.

After that I am going to try Tom & Nick's method to read the Bible in 90 days.

Psalms 112:1-2 says "Hallelujah! Blessed is the man who fears Jehovah, who delights greatly in His commandments. His seed will be mighty on the earth..." Did you realize that if you love the Bible, your seed will be mighty on the earth? I would like to take the promise for my family.
