Daniel's Bible Reading Goals
Now I want to try increase my reading capacity, i.e. more than 30 minutes at one sitting. Perhaps I could try 45 minutes with N.T. That should allow me to read the NT in about 3 weeks? Oh Lord, increase my appetite and capacity.
This was my post 6/20/07:
Hip hip hooray. I finally finished my OT (20 days after my forecast). It feels good.
Now, I will like to try what Tom & Nick are doing: reading the Bible in 90 days, that means by 9/21/07. After that, I will like to experiment to see if I can increase my capacity to read the Bible longer in one sitting, i.e. more than 30 minutes. My long term goal, read NT 100x before I am 50. Man, I am old.

Christ is all in all in the Word of God
Evening then the morning
At our church meeting, we have decided to read through Genesis a chapter a day with one day rest (6 chapters a week).
In my reading of Genesis chapter 1, I noticed that in God's wonderful creation, each day ends with the evening and the morning. Considering each day of his creation corresponds to our spiritual growth, it seems that when we experience something wonderful in our walk with the Lord, then comes the evening of valley, discouragement, hopelessness, and even unbelief. However, when the evening passes, there comes the morning of faith, hope, and love renewed toward the Lord and the saints. This cycle continues until we enter into the ture rest of God's seventh day rest.

Come sway over us
I thought these were very cool verses.
Judges 6:8-11 “The trees once went forth to anoint a king over them.
And they said to the olive tree, ‘Reign over us!’
But the olive tree said to them,
‘ Should I cease giving my oil,
With which they honor God and men,
And go to sway over trees?’
“Then the trees said to the fig tree,
‘You come and reign over us!’
But the fig tree said to them,
‘ Should I cease my sweetness and my good fruit,
And go to sway over trees?’
“Then the trees said to the vine,
‘You come and reign over us!’
But the vine said to them,
‘ Should I cease my new wine,
Which cheers both God and men,
And go to sway over trees?’
In God's mind, to give oil to honor God and man, to give sweetness and good fruit, and to give wine that cheers both God and men are more important than "to sway over trees." I hope that the Lord will keep me from this kind of temptation to do His work that counts.

Here are some encouraging verses:
"You say, It is vain to serve God...
Then those who feared Jehovah spoke to one another, each with his neighbor. And Jehovah gave heed and listened, and a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who feared Jehovah and considered His name.
And they will be Mine, says Jehovah of hosts, a personal treasure, in the day that I prepare; and I will spare them, as a man spares his son who serves him. And you will return and discern between him who is righteous and him who is wicked, between him who serves God and him who does not serve Him." (Malachi 3:14-18)
