Recently, I enjoyed the verses in Matt. 13:45-46 which says, "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." When the Lord Jesus as a merchant man looks his believers (his bride), he sees the believers as beautiful pearls. It does not matter how the believers feel about oneself. What matters is that our dear Lord found this one pearl of great price and sold all that he had. He paid the highest price which was his precious blood. We now as believers belong to the Lord. He has possession on us. He bought us (redeemed us). Only the Lord Jesus have rightful ownership over us. We are not our own, we belong to Jesus. It is a natural thing for the believers to serve him. After all, he is our master.

Yesterday, a brother encouraged me saying that I doing a good work and that I should continue what I am doing. He even said that I had fruit to show for it. As I am listening to his complements, I am doubting whether I really do or not. But at the same time, I felt good and encouraged.
A lot of the times, I don't feel worthy in my Christian work. However, regardless, the Lord finds me and the believers as a goodly pearl. I guess, that doesn't depend on whether I am doing well or not. Perhaps, it is the value that He sees in us. I guess, I will find out in eternity what He sees in us.
We are a goodly pearl purchased by our Lord with such a high price! Now that He has ownership, He is getting us ready to be His bride. As we love Him, and realize His presence in His word, we can be washed and made ready. In Ephesians 5, we are washed in the water of the word before we are presented to be His match, His bride. I am encouraged to let the Word of God wash, as I hear of others pursuing Him in His living Word!
in Christ,

Erm, i dont think that is what this parable is about. The goodly pearl represents a precious commodity. The merchant had the opportunity to purchase this, and he sacrificed his whole worldly existance for this. The kingdom of heaven is like a goodly pearl, when we are presented with the opportunity to go for it, we need to sacrifice all that we have, because the opportunity may never present itself. So we aren't really the pearls, we are the merchants and we need to sacrifice what we have.
I don't see this contradicting what was said.
Our Lord sacrificed everything to purchase His church, His pearl, His kingdom. Likewise His believers must sacrifice everything for His sake and His kingdom sake.
