Daniel's Bible Reading Goals

Hip hip hooray. I finally finished my Bible reading. I tried the 90 day reading schedule but ended up finishing after about 4 months and 9 days (off by 39 days? Started 6/2/07; finished 10/29/07). Anyhow it feels great. By the way, using the Bible reading schedule was helpful. The reading goals were clear and that was very nice.

Now I want to try increase my reading capacity, i.e. more than 30 minutes at one sitting. Perhaps I could try 45 minutes with N.T. That should allow me to read the NT in about 3 weeks? Oh Lord, increase my appetite and capacity.

This was my post 6/20/07:
Hip hip hooray. I finally finished my OT (20 days after my forecast). It feels good.
Now, I will like to try what Tom & Nick are doing: reading the Bible in 90 days, that means by 9/21/07. After that, I will like to experiment to see if I can increase my capacity to read the Bible longer in one sitting, i.e. more than 30 minutes. My long term goal, read NT 100x before I am 50. Man, I am old.

Congratulation! Better late than never. Well, my reading through the bible has been inconsistant at best. I started my reading through on 4/5/07, and I just finished Philippians yesterday(10/28). I hope I can pick up the pace a little bit. I surely need Lord's help to keep me going. One way to keep the appetite strong is to share with others what the Lord has shown us from His word. Then, we become hungry again for His word. M.E. Barber said, "I am forever hungry and I am forever satisfied". I want this cycle going for ever.

Well, better late than never. I just finished my reading through yesterday (11/8) about 4 months and 3 days behind the schedule. It was a long journey from OT to NT. I am ready to embark another trip with Lord's mercy. My impression of the reading of the bible this time can be summerize in a few sentences: It is relentless pursuit of God to build His counterpart. He never gives up. He will get what He is after. In OT, men failed one after the other from Adam to Israelites to kings. His nature is holy. He cannot tolerate sins. His holiness detests sins. So, he decides to come as a man to take care of the very problem that keeps men from God. He puts on Himself all the sin of the world. He is judged on the cross. Now men have a way to God. Sin no longer hinders men to God. Whoever believes in the precious blood of Jesus has a redemption. Now God has no problem gaining his bride, his conuterpart. In Revelations, there is a glorious picture of the marriage of the Lamb with the bride. Finally, His relentless pursuit ends with happy ending that lasts forever and ever.
